SYNOPSIS

Unlike other countries, Singapore celebrates Nurses' Day on 1 August each year. 

 

My Missy Memories” is a self-initiated, self-funded collection of stories from senior nurses above 70 years old. What was it like starting out as a nurse at merely 17 years old? How did they deal with facing death? Were they just like us in the youth, flouting rules and fighting against the challenges of life? What encouraged them to stay in the job for over 55 years?
 

For this 5-part series, we have used a mix of personal photos, archives and even animated illustrations to re-create their memories visually. Join us as the nurses look back fondly on their nursing days, vividly describing the scenes of Singapore's yesteryears, and the nursing industry; yet each individual continues to exhibit positivity even in the toughest of times.

A lot of what our senior nurses have lived and worked through may no longer be around today, but their stories and experiences show us a spirit well worth keeping alive.
